Once one of the busiest ports in Europe, Bridgnorth is now a tranquil town set on the River Severn. The river divides the town into High Town and Low Town linked by 7 sets of ancient donkey steps and a Victorian funicular railway. It is a town full of interesting architecture including the remains of a castle. There are a number of shops along the High Street and the little side streets.
